ABOUT GROWTH READING CENTER

Dr. Joseph and Dana Huss are the founders of Growth Reading Center. The learning center started in 2015 as Northside Learning Center, and it has helped hundreds of students become better readers. In 2020 the name changed to Growth Reading Center and expanded to online, virtual tutoring. Virtual tutoring allows us to reach more struggling students from the comfort of their homes regardless of geographical location.

DR. JOSEPH L. HUSS

is one of the co-founders of Growth Reading Center. He has an extensive education history. As a child, he went to many different schools. He graduated 2nd from the bottom in his class. Interestingly, he enrolled in college, determined to have a career in the criminal justice system.

Eventually, his purpose changed when he decided to pursue seminary instead. After completing his bachelor’s degree, he decided to finish his master’s degree and eventually earned a Doctor of Theology. Currently, Dr. Huss is pursuing his Doctorate of Education. At some point, he realized that his struggles in school were directly related to dyslexia, but so were the gifts that he possessed. Through determination and hard work, Joe learned to learn, but his desire is to make it easier for people to fulfill their true potential.

DANA HUSS

along with her husband Joe, is a co-founder of Growth Reading Center. Dyslexia runs in Dana’s family. Her mother, brother, several nieces and nephews, as well as her son and husband all have dyslexia. Because her experience is not just professional but also intensely personal, Dana is an excellent resource and advocate for people with dyslexia.

One of Dana’s favorite things about the learning center is redefining the term “smart” and helping people realize their full potential while at the same time teaching them to read well. She is certified in the Barton Reading and Spelling System, an Orton-Gillingham based program, and tutors many students with dyslexia and other reading disabilities. Dana has worked in education for over 20 years as a teacher and a tutor. She leads informational workshops about dyslexia for parents and teachers.

Joe and Dana have been married since 2004. They homeschool their two teenage boys and run several businesses together as a family.

I’ve lived in Iowa all my life. I enjoy being at church serving in children’s ministries and helping wherever I can. Some of my favorite things to do are spending time with friends and family, going for walks with my dog, and baking. I love being a part of Growth Reading Center and making a difference in children’s lives!

I was born and raised in Iowa. When I’m not working, you’ll find me spending time with my family and friends, or enjoying the outdoors through hiking, fishing, or just exploring nature! I love being apart of the positive atmosphere, and the feeling of helping people reach their full potential here at Growth Reading Center!

I was born and raised in Iowa, where I currently live. I enjoy playing the piano because it is very relaxing and rewarding.

I was born and raised in southern California. I’m a proud husband, devoted father of three and disciple of my Lord Jesus. When I’m not designing and creating, you’ll find me enjoying a good cup of black coffee. I’m loving every minute of working with Growth Reading Center!

I’ve lived in Arkansas since 2018 with my husband and four sons. I love reading, spending time with my family, and drinking really great coffee.

I currently live in the beautiful mountains of West Virginia with my husband and children. I love teaching people of all ages; it is the most rewarding and fulfilling way to spend my time.

I’ve lived in California my whole life. I love to read, try new foods, and enjoy God’s creation through hiking.

I currently live in Texas with my husband and two boys. I enjoy spending time with my family and reading books.

I’m an experienced Jr. High and High School youth leader. When I’m not working at school or tutoring, you’ll find me enjoying chocolate and games.

I’m an elementary teacher who’s lived in Ohio since 2019. I love being a mom and spending time with my son outside.
